MISSION OF THE CURATOR

The exhibition brings female artists together from different generations and cultures, whose works become metaphors for the strength and inner vision of women, expressed through a diverse range of artistic forms.
Throughout history, women have sought to pass on their knowledge and personal stories, enriching not only the female but also the male spheres of society, infusing social and cultural processes with profound meaning. This endeavor has been an act of liberating future generations, a symbol of the transfer of wisdom and experience.

The variety of genres in which these artists work and the venue of the exhibition seamlessly merge into a cohesive whole, creating a bridge between the past and the present, where contemporary art continues the dialogue with history and shapes a new understanding of female strength and creativity.

CURATORIAL TEXT
OF THE TOGETTHERE
WITH A WOMAN EXHIBITION

The international group exhibition "TOGETTHERE with a Woman" embarks on a spiritual pilgrimage, inviting visitors to discover new facets of art and delve into the depth of the female experience in the unique 12th-century Oratorio de Crociferi.

The Oratorio de Crociferi, located on the left side of Campo dei Gesuiti, is part of a medieval building that is emblematic of the Venetian art culture of the 16th century, with episodes belonging to the late Venetian Renaissance. The building once served as a hospital and dormitory, a place for pilgrims and crusaders. In the later Middle Ages, part of the Oratorio became a refuge for many women escaping various life circumstances. It is from this context that curator Marika Parsadanelli Wardell’s profound idea of unity and enlightenment emerges.

Unity and enlightenment merge into a cornerstone of the exhibition’s concept. The history of the pilgrims who stayed in the Oratorio, journeying to the Holy Land, symbolized for them the completion of one spiritual phase and the beginning of a new one upon their arrival in Jerusalem. After the pilgrims, women came to the Oratorio seeking protection and shelter. There, they interacted, supported one another, cared for each other, and each experienced their own sorrows and joys. This place united them, provided support, and served as a venue for the transfer of knowledge.

The exhibition "TOGETTHERE with a Woman" or "Reaching There with the Woman" is a play on words that conceals a deep and important meaning, reflecting the spirit and mood of the curatorial work. The exhibition will bridge the past and present in this sacred space, creating an invisible connection between women of different eras and cultures.

We explore and highlight the significance of women's contributions to art, uniting them in a sisterhood and sharing experiences. The works of each artist featured in the exhibition, coming from various continents—from Asia to the Americas—will present different aspects of the theme, reflecting their own experiences, observations, and research. Each artist employs diverse artistic forms and techniques, from traditional drawings and paintings to contemporary digital arts and experimental projects.

The exhibition "With the Woman" symbolizes the importance of expanding the opportunities and rights of contemporary women in art and society.
